Surpassing Solar Energy Milestone

We have recently installed an additional 80kW photovoltaic solar panel system adding to our already substantial 72kW installation.  This additional installation falls in with our strong track record of innovation and a keen eye on improving our green credentials.

The investment of the first 72kW, 298 panel solar system in 2015, has now generated in excess of 390,000kW.  Following the additional milestone of generating 10,000+ kilowatt hours in a single month, May 2019, the decision to invest in further panels on the other side of their building made sense from both an environmental and business viewpoint.

Ten thousand kilowatt hours (or kWh) of clean energy production would offset about 4.49 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions and is enough to power a washing machine for 4,348 loads of washing.

“This milestone speaks loudly about the energy and capability of the new green initiatives installed around Packexe,” said Andrew Orchard, the company’s CEO and founder. “The fact that we have generated more than 390 megawatt hours in just six years clearly marks the success of our Solar installation.”

The spring and summer of 2020 was a glorious one which saw an unusually high level of clean kwH energy production with the original solar panels, with the extra 80kW now installed and up and running we expect 2021 going forwards will see an even more remarkable amount of clean energy produced by Packexe, used by Packexe and supplied back into the national grid.

Andrew Orchard continued “Packexe is committed to reducing the environmental impact our manufacturing processes and factory operations have. From LED lights, and a large-scale cardboard, plastic and waste recycling programme at our Exeter HQ, to making our products 100% recyclable and significantly more durable than the alternatives, we are working hard to improve our green credentials wherever possible.”
